Can't edit: more things to learn

Can't see how to edit the post below to add this: on re-reading it's clear I also need to learn:

- how to climb cracks

- to do do laybacks

- how to be better at traverses

PS. to edit you have to go into blogger, pretend you are writing a new post, go to 'edit posts' then to 'published' posts... and find your post to edit. Hopeless, I know, but the only way, it seems.

Why write about something you know next to nothing about?

I started climbing once or twice a month in July 2011, then two or three times a week in January 2012. I couldn't find any other writing on the web about climbing by a beginner - the rest feels like a bouldering wall and a Himalayan camp combined. The writing here doesn't try to be witty. I know this isn't very appealing to readers but I wanted to just write completely straight.

If I could be a brilliant climber tomorrow, by magic, I wouldn't want to be. I want to work at it, to struggle, to put in little regular efforts over time, and to feel I've really earned it. Everything each day feels connected to climbing. At the moment progress is quick but when I dip I'll be ready for it.

Oh and the blog is called "The hills are far away" because I live in Surrey.
